We have collaborated with Fullsteam Agency for Sideways Helsinki from 2017 and this collabo that is still continuing is pure creative joy. Our brief from day one has been to make something surprising and unexpected. Fullsteam Agency has given us the freedom to execute ideas that would not necessarily have been possible to execute anywhere else. This kind of trust from a client pushes us to climb higher each year and to keep coming up with fresh ideas.
After movie is a genre that is all the time evolving and the way we consume videos is evolving even faster. Trends on how to capture music festivals come and go, one year it is all about them drone shots, another year it’s all about slow motion and transitions. After movies are also tricky creatively. How do you even brush the feeling brought by people surrounding you, lights, music and the overwhelming feeling of being part of time and space that is shared very much in the present.
With Sideways we have tried to look beyond visual trends, making something a bit off the beaten track and also keeping in mind how we consume videos and on the platforms. To mirror the diversity in the crowd and the organic feel at the festival we have mixed formats carelessly, film with digital, 16:9 with 4:5. This also brings an authentic feel to the after movie because viewers are so used to seeing varied content in social media with varied quality. Sound design plays a key role in bringing the festival closer to the skin.
The client has thanked us for giving them 110% but this is easy because they keep giving 120% to the festival.
